§ 2-08. Investigations.

  • The parish council may make investigations into the affairs of the parish government and the related conduct of any parish official, officer, employee, department, office, or agency and for this purpose may subpoena witnesses, administer oaths, take testimony, and require the production of evidence. Investigations shall be for a specified purpose and may be undertaken only by the affirmative vote of a majority of the membership of the council. Any person who fails or refuses to obey any lawful order of the council shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished in such manner as the council shall fix by ordinance. No council member shall vote on any matter under investigation in which said council member has a conflict of interest.
