RE: Personnel Policies

This manual has been prepared as a guide and reference for members of management at all levels of supervisory responsibility.

Because of the increasingly complex legal nature of the employment relationship, we feel it is in the best interest of the parish and its employees to have written personnel policies. It is important for our employees to know the parish's objectives and expectations. It is also essential that all members of management understand the role of the policies in meeting those objectives and in limiting our legal exposure.

Any policy, however, is only as good as implementation, and the key to the implementation of the policy is the supervisor who is responsible for and in direct contact with each group of employees. You are the individuals who must translate these ideas and principles into action, and it is upon you that we depend for the successful development of a productive, legal, and harmonious working environment for our employees.

Accordingly, I request that each of you thoroughly familiarize yourself with the contents of this manual, in order that all personnel policies of the parish may be administered fairly and effectively.

Our object is to run an efficient form of government, and also to provide you with good wages, employment security, a challenge of self-development, and an opportunity for job advancement.

This policy explains our policies for employees and describes practices which provide for good human relations on the job. Please read it carefully and discuss any questions with your supervisor. It is our belief that good policies and an understanding of them express our interest in fair play.
